MSU Basketball Survives Scare From Bowling Green: 3 Quick Takes

 

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State basketball survived a scare from Bowling Green on Tuesday night, winning 75-67 in overtime. The Spartans led by 16 points with just over five minutes to play in regulation, but the Falcons rallied to tie the game and force overtime.

Spartans escape with OT win

MSU looked to be in control for most of the game, but Bowling Green made a late push to force overtime. The Falcons hit a three-pointer with just over a minute to play to tie the game at 67-67. MSU had a chance to win the game in regulation, but Foster Loyer’s three-pointer at the buzzer was off the mark.

Tyson Walker leads MSU with 21 points

Tyson Walker led MSU with 21 points, followed by Joey Hauser with 17 points and Malik Hall with 16 points. The Spartans shot just 39.3% from the field, but they made up for it by hitting 10 three-pointers. Bowling Green was led by Kaden Metheny, who had 19 points.

MSU’s defense needs to improve

MSU’s defense was not at its best against Bowling Green. The Falcons shot 45.8% from the field and hit 10 three-pointers. MSU also allowed Bowling Green to grab 16 offensive rebounds. The Spartans will need to improve their defense if they want to be successful this season.
