Raiders Qb Gardner Minshew Leaves Game In 4Th Quarter With An Injury
What Happened?
Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew left Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fourth quarter with an injury to his right ankle. Minshew was sacked by Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt and immediately went down in pain. He was helped off the field and did not return.
Injury Details
The Raiders have not yet released an official update on Minshew’s injury, but it is believed to be a sprain. The severity of the sprain is not yet known, but it is possible that Minshew could miss some time.
Impact on the Raiders
Minshew’s injury is a significant blow to the Raiders. He has been a solid performer since taking over as the starter in Week 6, completing 65.7% of his passes for 1,687 yards, nine touchdowns, and six interceptions. With Minshew out, the Raiders will likely turn to Jarrett Stidham as their starting quarterback.
Stidham has limited experience as a starter, having started just four games in his career. He has completed 58.7% of his passes for 753 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.
Moving Forward
The Raiders are now 5-8 on the season and face an uphill battle to make the playoffs. They will need to win their remaining games and get some help from other teams in order to have a chance at a wildcard berth.
