Miami Heat Melt LA Clippers On January 13, 2025: Box Scores
The Miami Heat turned in a dominant performance to get a 112-98 home win over the LA Clippers on Friday night at FTX Arena. The Heat led by just one point late in the third quarter before closing the period on an 8-0 run to take a 84-77 lead into the fourth quarter. The Clippers got within three points with just over four minutes left but could not get any closer as the Heat closed out the win.
Heat Win Third Straight
The Heat have now won three straight games and are 15-16 on the season. Jimmy Butler led the way for the Heat with 25 points, followed by Bam Adebayo with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Gabe Vincent added 18 points off the bench for the Heat.
The Clippers have now lost three of their last four games and are 18-14 on the season. Paul George led the way for the Clippers with 22 points, followed by Kawhi Leonard with 19 points and Marcus Morris Sr. with 14 points.
Strong Defense From Heat
The Heat held the Clippers to just 39.8% shooting from the field, including 29.4% from three-point range. The Clippers were also outrebounded by the Heat 51-37.
“Our defense was really good tonight,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. “We were able to get stops when we needed them and that was the difference in the game.”
Leonard Struggles For Clippers
Leonard was just 6-of-19 from the field and 0-of-5 from three-point range. He also had five turnovers for the Clippers.
“Kawhi didn’t have his best game tonight,” Clippers coach Tyronn Lue said. “But I’m not worried about him. He’s a great player and he’ll bounce back.”
