Tommy DeVito Is A “Long Shot” To Play On Thanksgiving
Chicago Bears quarterback Tommy DeVito is a “long shot” to play on Thanksgiving against the Detroit Lions, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
DeVito Injured in Week 10
DeVito suffered a sprained MCL in his left knee during the Bears’ Week 10 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. He was replaced by Nathan Peterman, who started the following week against the New York Jets.
Fields Returned to Practice, Expected to Start
Justin Fields, who has been sidelined with a separated left shoulder since Week 11, returned to practice on Wednesday and is expected to start against the Lions. Fields has been the Bears’ starting quarterback for most of the season and has thrown for 1,232 yards, eight touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
DeVito’s Future in Chicago Uncertain
DeVito’s injury could have a significant impact on his future in Chicago. The Bears signed him to a one-year contract in March, and he was expected to compete for the backup quarterback job behind Fields. However, his injury and Peterman’s solid performance in his absence could make it difficult for DeVito to earn a roster spot next season.
Outlook
The Bears are currently 3-9 and have been eliminated from playoff contention. They will face the Lions on Thanksgiving at Ford Field in Detroit.
